According to the Internet Movie Database the tope 5 films of all time are as follows :
The Shawshank Redemption
The Godfather (1972)
The Godfather part II (1974)
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly (1966)
Pulp Fiction (1996)
I think that what is really interesting is that we have a very good spread of different sorts of films, but with 2 of the Godfather series appearing, shows the strength of that particular set of films. At the top you have one of the most iconic films of the 20th century, where Tim Robbins plays the part of Tim Dufresne, who is incarcerated for a crime he feels was wrong.
The bond he makes with other prisoners along with the lifestyle changes he makes within the prison is something that makes the film even more gripping.
The film went on to be famous around the world and something that when people talk about their top 5 will always appear, so if you haven’t seen it, then get it booked in.

Possibly one of the best films I have ever had the privelege of watching, and probably appears highly on the list of many film buff ’s ‘favourite’ films.
The role that Kevin Spacey plays in the film is integral and is shown as the film progresses to what is ultimately one of my favourite ever endings to a film. He plays the role of Roger ‘Verbal’ Kint in the interim of the film, but ends up revealing himself as the lead of the film, the infamous, Keyser Soze.
Anyone who has either not seen this film, should borrow from a friend, run to the nearest dvd store or order online.
A film not to be missed and definitely to be added to your collection.

Coming soon to a cinema near you is the latest in the Shrek film set. The film which is just over 90 minutes in duration sees the main character, Shrek, seeking a return to life as an ogre for just one day.
Unfortunately, the unsuspecting Shrek is tricked and ends up in an alternate reality, where in fact he has yet to be born. This leaves him with the dilemma of attempting to find Fiona and make her fall in love within the day.
The film has all the usual characters including Donkey and Puss, and looks set to generate another craze of Shrek fever for the summer holidays.
It looks set to hit the UK cinemas in early July, so make sure you get your seats booked early !!!

Disney have confirmed that the future sequel to their hit Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is to be filmed in 3D format. This is despite rumours saying the budget is being slashed due to the critically disappointing 3rd film in the series.
I say ‘despite’ but it s probably more likely a case of ‘because’, due to the fact filming in 3D is now a relatively cheap exercise that allows movie studios to charge cinema-goers an extra fee. Add to this the fact Blu-ray 3D is soon to launch (estimates say Summer 2010), which will further boost the profitiability of 3D films, should fans decide they want to shell out for the feature.

For pretty much every film, especially animated ones, there is a video game adaptation released to coincide with it these days. Toy Story 3 is not going to be an exception to this rule, with Toy Story 3: The Video Game due to be released at the same time as the movie is publicly shown in cinemas.
It has been revealed that the PlayStation 3 version of the game is all set to receive exclusive content in the form of being able to play as super villain Zerg himself. In addition to this, there will also be a set of free mini-games released that will be playable in the 3D socialising platform, PlayStation Home, which is only available to PS3 owners.

Walt Disney Co. is apparently in the first five top choices for a work placement for college graduates in the United States of America. Following the results of an annual survey of college students, it was shown that they preferred companies with a currently existing market success.
The full top five consists of internet search giant Google Inc., U.S. criminal investigation agency the FBI, technology firm Apple Inc. and Ernst & Young, and of course, as already pointed out, the Walt Disney company. Google reign high as the most chosen prospective organisation to work for – marking the fourth year in a row it has held the title.

The sequel to arguably one of the biggest animated movies of all time, Toy Story 3, hasn’t even been released yet and DIsney Pixar are already announcing another sequel to an animated hit.
Monsters Inc. 2 has been officially confirmed as in development by Disney Pixar and is expected to be released next year in November. Disney seem to be going a little crazy with their follow-ups recently, what with Toy Story 3 as already mentioned, as well as Cars 2 releasing next year too.
Other sequel animations that are currently releasing soon or that are in development include Shrek Forever After, Madagascar 3 (name to be confirmed) and a sequel to the slightly lesser know Hoodwinked.

I’m hereto put forward the question; which film do you prefer – Alice in Wonderland the cartoon by Disney or the 2010 live action Alice in Wonderland directed by Tim Burton.
The first was and remains a cult classic to many, with a number of fans still following the film which turns 60 years old next year. Meanwhile, the remake (re-re-re-remake if you count the many attempts at portraying the Lewis Carroll classic) this year seemed to garner a fair bit of criticism from reviewers.
That doesn’t mean that the 2010 Alice in Wonderland is a failure, because it still grossed $780 million. But it does have an IMDB rating of 6.9/10, which gets pipped to the post by the Disney cartoon version which scrapes together a score of 7.4.
Ultimately, I think it comes down to a mix of personal preference and love for nostalgia.
