Pirates of the Carribean 4 to be filmed in 3D

May 19th, 2010 · No Comments

Disney have confirmed that the future sequel to their hit Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is to be filmed in 3D format. This is despite rumours saying the budget is being slashed due to the critically disappointing 3rd film in the series.

I say ‘despite’ but it s probably more likely a case of ‘because’, due to the fact filming in 3D is now a relatively cheap exercise that allows movie studios to charge cinema-goers an extra fee. Add to this the fact Blu-ray 3D is soon to launch (estimates say Summer 2010), which will further boost the profitiability of 3D films, should fans decide they want to shell out for the feature.
