After missing it on the big screen I managed to watch The Fighter at last this weekend and wow what a movie. I’m not the biggest boxing fan in the world but of all the boxing films I’ve seen this is surely the best at re-enacting the physical sport.
The film depicts the rise of boxer Micky Ward, played by Mark Whahlberg, in the late 1980′s. The boxer is helped on his way by half brother Dicky Eklund, played Christian Bale, who is a former boxer suffering from an addiction to drugs and embroiled in a life of crime.

The story itself is actually a true one and at the end of the movie you get to see a small video clip of the two brothers.

I really really recommend this moive to anyone because you don’t need to be a sporting to fan to appreciated this film as my girlfriend will justify because she loved it yet despises boxing.

You can certainly see why Christian Bale picker up the Best Supporting Actor award because his performance really is brilliant.

Watch it this weekend, you won’t be disappointed.
